The European Commission launched the third edition of the European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism competition, inviting European cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 to apply by 30 May 2025.

The European Commission has launched the third edition of the European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism competition. This initiative aims to recognise and reward smaller destinations that have successfully promoted sustainable tourism through green transition efforts. European cities, located in either an EU Member State or a non-EU country participating in the Single Market Program, with populations ranging from 25,000 to 100,000, are encouraged to apply by 30 May 2025.
