For 2023-2025:
For commercial projects, which are initiatives expected to generate trading profits, income, or commercial benefits through product sales, licensing, spin-outs, or similar income streams, EIT Food will provide grant funding of up to €1,000,000 per project. These projects typically have an initial duration cap of no longer than 18 months.
For non-commercial projects, which focus primarily on social, health, education, or consumer behavior impacts without direct profit objectives and where benefits are provided cost-recovery or free at the point of use, the maximum EIT grant funding is up to €100,000 per project over a similar maximum initial period of 18 months.
The Impact Funding Framework's total starting funding amount for this 2023–2025 funding scheme is €30 million.
Proof-of-Concept Co-Financing Instrument: € 2,000,000 (total budget for the call).
Legal entities from non-Horizon Europe Associate countries can participate in consortia, but are limited to funding of 60,000 over 3 years for a Grant Agreement.
The responsibility for funding the calls lies primarily with EIT Food, which operates under the support and mandate of the European Union (EU) through the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT)

- Type of Action Funded: Innovation projects spanning research, product/service development, commercialisation, market demonstration, and scale-up activities, coupled with education and public engagement components.
- TRL Target: Projects should aim to reach TRL 9 by project completion—meaning they must be capable of full market readiness or deployment after the project.
Important Note: About the Proof-of-Concept Co-Financing Instrument
The Proof-of-Concept Co-Financing Instrument facilitates the critical transition from research outputs to validated, market-ready innovations by funding early validation stages at TRL 3 to 6. The focus is on preparing the innovation for market entry or scale-up under the broader EIT Food missions.
