The Destination RiskScan project, coordinated by the Travel Foundation in partnership with the Centre of Expertise Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality (CELTH), aims to help global tourism destinations assess and respond to climate change risks. Funded through collaborative efforts and sponsorship opportunities, the project focuses on developing practical tools — including an online risk scan and a serious game — to support destination managers in identifying vulnerabilities and prioritising climate resilience strategies. Special attention is given to coastal and winter tourism destinations, which are particularly vulnerable to rising sea levels and declining snowfall. Running from January 2025 to December 2026, its expected outcomes include increased awareness, improved risk management capacity, and enhanced resilience for tourism-dependent communities worldwide.
