The ECO-TANDEM PROGRAMME, a project co-funded by the European Union, aimed to enhance sustainable tourism development and strengthen the capacity of traditional tourism SMEs through transnational cooperation and knowledge transfer. Over three years of implementation, the project engaged approximately 650 stakeholders in the tourism and sustainability sectors, establishing a network of cross-border and transnational cooperation. This network facilitated knowledge sharing and promoted an eco-responsible shift, thereby supporting traditional SMEs in adopting a more responsible and eco-sustainable approach in their service delivery, products, or processes. The EU ECO-TANDEM conducted three main activities: the EU ECO-TANDEM Academy, the BIZ Programme, and the Network.
