According to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the total number of tour operators and travel agencies has been decreasing each year, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2015, there were 1,354 such enterprises, but by 2022, this number dropped to 973. Simultaneously, the number of people using their services decreased by 70.5% for outbound trips and 378.0% for inbound trips. Despite a slight recovery in 2022, demand remains below pre-pandemic levels.
