The State of Sustainable Tourism 2023 report, compiled by Visit Finland and organizations in the field, provides a global overview of current sustainable tourism practices. Based on data from 2023, it emphasizes the urgent need for more responsible practices, considering environmental, social, and economic factors. Report highlights that we have surpassed planetary boundaries, while climate actions by tourism companies remain limited. This information is crucial for the development of tourism. During 2024, the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) program will take a significant leap toward better consideration of biodiversity Policymakers, businesses, and travelers can use this information to create a more resilient and sustainable tourism sector (The original piece available only in Finnish).
