MAIRE (Maire Tecnimont S.p.A.) leads a technology and engineering group that develops and implements innovative solutions to enable the Energy Transition. We offer Sustainable Technology Solutions and Integrated E&C Solutions in nitrogen fertilizers, hydrogen, circular carbon, fuels, chemicals, and polymers in 45 countries, across the EU and globally.
Digital Process Monitor (DPM) for the licenses owned by Maire group, provides a Process Digital Twin which consists of an accurate process plant model.
Process data are captured from the plant to feed a digital replica of plant processes, unlocking operational excellence through increased productivity and energy savings with a consequent reduction in the operating cost and plant’s carbon footprint. Such tool, which is already commercially released for the Urea production unit licensed by Stamicarbon (Nitrogen Solutions dedicated company), is going to be marketed in 2024 for the Hydrogen Production Unit (HPU) and for the Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU). DPM will allow for the optimisation of natural gas and make-up fuel gas consumption (for HPU units), fuel gas and hydrogen consumption ( for SRUs), electricity consumption, and the flow rate of steam exported on various pressure levels.
This will lead to estimated CO2 emissions savings of 20.000t/y for a Hydrogen Production Unit plant with a capacity of 70.000 Nm3 H2/hr and 3.660 t/y for a Sulphur Recovery Unit plant with a capacity of 390 t/d of sulphur produced. Similarly, it was estimated CO2 emissions saving of 3.300 t/y for an Ultra Low Energy Urea plant with a capacity of 1640mt/d of urea produced.
By the next 5 years, the deployment of DPM will follow on other licenses belonging to Maire group and applicable to green chemistry arena to pursuit a sustainable industrialization of Energy Transition using top-notch digital technologies.
