As of July 2024, the Flanders region in Belgium had a total of 499,300 bed places, according to Toerisme Vlaanderen. This represents a 1.0% increase from July 2023 and a 13.5% rise compared to pre-pandemic levels in July 2019. The number of camping areas nearly tripled from 1,901 in July 2019 to 5,336 in July 2024. Bed places in site-related accommodations grew by 142.4% over the same period. Conversely, the most significant decreases in bed places were seen in guesthouses (99.7%) and holiday accommodations (99.1%). Toerisme Vlaanderen offers more data through a free, automatically updated statistical dashboard, allowing users to explore the evolution of sleeping places in registered, recognized, and still licensed tourist accommodations in the Flemish Region (excluding Brussels) since April 1, 2017.
