The report "Economic Significance of Tourism in Flanders," written by Karolien Weekers and released in 2024, provides information about the financial effects of tourism in Flanders. The study offers insights into tourist consumption, gross value contributed by tourism-related companies, direct value added from tourism, and employment in the tourism sector. It is based on calculations from the Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSA) for both the Flemish and Brussels Capital Regions. Notably, in 2022, the Brussels Capital Region received €4.5 billion in tourism-related spending, whilst the Flemish Region produced a total of €18.2 billion in tourism-related consumption (The original piece available only in Dutch).
