The Sustainable finance package 2023 from the European Commission, published on June 13, 2023, aims to strengthen the EU’s sustainable finance framework to support companies and the financial sector in transitioning to sustainability. It adds new activities to the EU Taxonomy to guide investments towards activities that significantly contribute to environmental objectives. Furthermore, new rules are proposed for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) rating providers to increase transparency and reliability. The package also encourages private funding for transition projects and technologies, facilitating financial flows to sustainable investments.
This comprehensive package is designed to ensure that the EU’s sustainable finance framework remains robust and effective in driving the transition to a sustainable economy.
