This gives smaller manufacturers and component suppliers a funding route into semiconductor development that previously required either large corporate R&D budgets or venture capital with semiconductor-specific expertise, neither of which is readily available to most SME machinery or robotics component makers. Combined with the FAMES pilot line's SME-accessible testing capacity (covered separately above), this Fund addresses the other half of the equation: getting from a tested design to investable, fundable production scale-up.
