The 43 selected projects bring together 218 organisations from 30 countries, with SMEs taking part in 34 of them. While most of these projects address topics far from the factory floor, ranging from cancer therapy to quantum computing, one stands out as directly relevant to manufacturing. This project, DyHoLIT, is developing holographic lithography that could produce extremely small, complex structures with high precision, with possible use in next-generation semiconductor technologies. For those interested in further manufacturing-related topics, the full list of selected projects, published by the EIC, is worth checking, although grant agreements for these projects are still being prepared.
As the first step in the EIC's support chain, Pathfinder lays the groundwork for technologies that can later progress to the Transition and Accelerator instruments, both of which are covered elsewhere on this platform. Looking ahead, companies and research teams with a long-term technology idea should note that the EIC will open its 2027 funding opportunities in early November.
