REWIRE (Remanufacturing with smart robotics for Wide-scale Redeployment) is a Horizon Europe project that started in May 2026, bringing together 13 partners from 8 countries, coordinated by Irish Manufacturing Research, to scale up remanufacturing in sectors including heavy machinery, automotive and electronics.

With close to €7 million in EU funding, the project is building robotics, AI-based decision-making, digital twins and traceable product data into a shared framework for triaging, planning, simulating and verifying remanufacturing work, and will demonstrate the approach through three Integrated Remanufacturing Demonstrators. The consortium's stated goal is to double the volume of remanufactured components in the sectors it covers, addressing barriers such as poor traceability, limited autonomous robotics and skills shortages that have so far held back remanufacturing at scale.
