Vitrines d’Europe is a European association of small, local, and urban retailers. It was formed by Confesercenti Emilia-Romagna, Commerçants de France, and the Associação Comercial e Industrial de Barcelos (Portugal), with Barcelona Comerç holding the general secretariat of Vitrines d’Europe. Together with Barcelona Comerç, Vitrines d’Europe has petitioned for the European Capital of Small Retail to revitalise the ecosystem, focusing on the proximity economy.
Josep Xurigué Camprubí works as a technician in the technical office of Vitrines d’Europe and as a technician and deputy director at Barcelona Comerç. Josep also promoted the CECP (Le Conseil de l’Enseignement des Communes et des Provinces) project as a technical director.
Vitrines d’Europe will disseminate information to its member entities and their respective cities, empowering them to join as members or followers on an individual basis. During local meetings, Vitrines d’Europe will introduce the platform to other partners and European agents with whom they have established relationships. In key areas such as consumption, consumer rights, and entity relations, Vitrines d’Europe will leverage the extensive contacts and agreements they have cultivated as small retail entities. This approach will enhance collaboration and engagement within the proximity and social economy ecosystem, driving mutual growth and success.
We view the platform as an opportunity to share and address the challenges of European local commerce with other agents of the social and local economy. Vitrines d’Europa is committed to the proper functioning of neighbourhoods and communities. We generate many positive externalities, including the integration of newcomers, the incorporation of young people, security, coexistence, and emotional care in their neighbourhoods. More broadly, the association contributes to the dissemination and compliance with the EU 2030 Agenda, the new Urban Agenda, and the green and digital transition of the EU.
