In November 2024, Leroy Merlin Italia launched its first corner of the “House of Circularity” in a pilot store. “House of Circularity” is Leroy Merlin Italia’s first project related to the second life of products. This initiative resells products returned by customers that may have minor aesthetic defects but are still functional—items that would otherwise be discarded. The reasons for the project are numerous, including waste reduction, resource optimization, cost savings, and gaining a competitive advantage.
Leroy Merlin Italia designed a new reverse logistics flow for products returned by customers that have minor defects in terms of packaging, aesthetics, or the condition of the accessories, but are still fully functional. Inside the warehouse, a Leroy Merlin operator qualifies the products and assigns a price based on three possible levels: excellent condition, very good condition, and acceptable condition. Each condition corresponds to a specific discount range. After qualification, the products are shipped to the stores, ready to be sold.
