As part of the Intelligent Cities Challenge programme, Kavala envisions itself as an intelligent, entrepreneurial, and blue city, focusing on sustainable development in tourism, creative industries, and agrofood while enhancing digital skills for citizens and SMEs. The city's thematic track is "Green and digital transition in tourism," with implementation ambitions in Digital Tourism, Digital Infrastructures, Collaboration, and Skills. Moving forward, Kavala aims to continue implementing planned initiatives, secure additional financing, and engage stakeholders for further needs assessment and project development. Key lessons include the importance of stakeholder consultation, political leadership, addressing bureaucratic challenges, leveraging EU support, and ensuring that actions align with actual business and citizen needs for successful implementation.
