The Rural Pact Community Platform highlights a programme in France that engages young people in voluntary civic service to support local development in rural areas. Established by the association InSite, the initiative provides accommodation, living allowances, and training to participants aged 18-30, who work in rural communities for 6-12 months. Between 2018 and 2023, the programme benefitted 250 villages and involved over 260 volunteers, with 22% of participants choosing to settle in rural areas after their service. This initiative aims to revitalise rural communities and foster social connections, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability. For a detailed overview of best practices, including summary, examples, challenges, and outcomes, please refer to the attached link.
