The HERIT-DATA project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund, commenced in April 2018 and concluded in March 2022. Its primary objective was to address the challenges that tourism poses to cultural heritage. By leveraging technology and data utilization, the project sought to mitigate the impact of tourism activities on historic towns and significant archaeological sites, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Key outcomes of the project include the installation of pilot sites, data collection and application for policymaking, the development of a mass tourism management model, and the creation of a mainstreaming model.
