The European Commission has published a guidance document and set of frequently asked questions on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, intended to support a uniform application of the new rules once they start to apply on 12 August 2026.

For chemicals companies that supply or use packaging materials, the clarifications are a practical resource for confirming how specific products and packaging formats will be treated once the regulation applies across all 27 Member States.
