The European Chemical Regions Network held its 2026 General Assembly in Rotterdam, where Catalonia formally took over the network's presidency from Lombardy for 2026-2027, and welcomed two new members: the Dutch province of Zeeland and Hungary's chemical industry association.

The network brings together regional governments and industry bodies across more than 20 EU countries to exchange knowledge, support participation in EU projects, and represent the regional dimension of chemicals policy in Brussels. For regional and local stakeholders, the change in leadership and the new members are a reminder that the network is an active channel for regions to help shape EU chemicals policy alongside national and EU-level bodies.
