The new regulation will give ECHA its own dedicated legal basis for the first time, rather than being anchored solely in REACH, reflecting the Agency's expanding role across chemicals, biocides and other legislation. For the chemicals ecosystem, a stronger institutional footing for ECHA is likely to translate into more resources and a clearer long-term mandate for chemical safety oversight.
