Our Watch Leads - OWL (www.owlplaces.com) is a start-up that participates in the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre Alumni Network, the company is democratizing the access to Carbon Footprints and ESG KPIs in buildings and real estate properties.

To achieve sustainability and decarbonization, the financial system is redirecting capital towards ESG investments, integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance goals. The UN Environment Programme predicts that sustainable investment will reach €49 trillion by 2025. To access the best financial opportunities in the market, OWL's clients—large real estate owners, and private and public entities—must plan, improve, and report the ESG impact and carbon footprint of their properties.
OWL is helping real estate owners and private and public entities build cities that do more good than harm. By combining Building Information Modelling, Geospatial Data, and Artificial Intelligence, OWL enables clients to plan, improve, and report the ESG performance and carbon footprint of their properties. As a result, companies and public entities can now access and maintain the best sustainable financing opportunities by leveraging OWL's certificates and digital twins.

OWL's offering is divided into three levels:

Plan: Certify any property globally for the due diligence needed to access sustainable financing.

Improve: Optimize the ESG performance of buildings, reducing their carbon footprint and Life Cycle Costs (LCC) while increasing their comfort and resilience to climate/location.

Report: Measure, report, and verify all key ESG indicators, demonstrate compliance, and maintain the best contracted interest rates in sustainable finance for buildings and properties.

OWL's solution is disruptive in terms of business model, being one of the first initiatives to combine Building Information Modelling, Geospatial Data, and Artificial Intelligence to decarbonize urban properties. This approach is much needed, considering that cities are responsible for over 70% of global carbon emissions, with buildings being one of the main sources of embodied and operational carbon, according to the UN Environment Report on Cities.

OWL creates and updates digital twins and environmental simulations worldwide on a weekly basis. It is one of the only international solutions that combines sustainable performance data and the carbon footprint of buildings and their impact on the surroundings. The digital twins are hosted on a cloud infrastructure with appropriate security, data protection, and backups. OWL democratizes access to these valuable data repositories and continuously monitors the ESG indicators of any property in the world. This is why not only large real estate owners have been using OWL's solutions. Currently, OWL is establishing international partnerships with consultants from the AEC sectors and Nature-Based Solutions, who are now using OWL's digital tools and data to access sustainable financing in private banking, but also for joint applications to programs such as Life and the New European Bauhaus.
