Recent data from Statistik Austria reveals that in 2022, tourism’s direct contribution to Austria’s economy was significant, with a value-added impact of EUR 17.0 billion, representing 3.8% of the nation’s GDP. The preliminary figures from the Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSA) indicate that both domestic and international visitors spent a total of EUR 30.8 billion within Austria in 2022. This expenditure marks a near doubling from the previous year and achieves 81.4% of the pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019. For more detailed and historical data, Statistics Austria, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) of Austria, offers free access to regularly updated statistical databases.
