The Eurostat article, published in October 2019, reveals that the 2018-2019 winter season saw positive growth in tourism across the EU, with a 2.6% increase in nights spent at hotels and similar accommodations compared to the previous year. Spain, the UK, Italy, and Austria were the most popular destinations, accounting for over half of all nights spent by non-residents. Romania, Croatia, and Poland experienced the highest growth rates, while Greece and Malta saw declines. Malta had the highest occupancy rate of beds and bedrooms in the EU during this period.
