In 2023, the Attica region emerged as the most popular destination for museums and archaeological sites in Greece, attracting 5.6 million visitors to its archaeological sites and 3.1 million to its museums. Crete followed, with 2.1 million visitors to its archaeological sites and 476.3 thousand to its museums. Despite these numbers, both regions saw higher visitor counts in 2019, indicating that the sector has not yet fully recovered from the pandemic’s impact.
