The Statistics Iceland provides yearly indicators on international arrivals in Iceland from 2009 to 2023. The data is categorised by modes of water and air transport. It shows that air travel saw the most substantial growth, particularly in scheduled flights, which rose from approximately 675,000 in 2021 to over 2.17 million in 2023. Waterway transportation also expanded, with cruise ship passengers increasing from about 115,000 in 2021 to over 838,000 in 2023.
