In 2023, German travelers showed a higher preference for domestic trips over international travel, with 148.6 million arrivals, accounting for 59.3% of the total travel demand. This figure represents 92.3% of the 2019 level. Meanwhile, international travel demand reached 102.1 million travelers, the highest since the 2018 peak of 108.5 million arrivals. Italy, Austria, and Spain were the top foreign destinations, collectively making up about 35.4% of all international travel demand.
