According to the Statistics Office of Malta, in the first quarter of 2024, there were 494,172 guests in collective accommodation establishments, which is a 20.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Among these guests, 89.6% chose hotels as their accommodation. Specifically, 50.0% stayed in 4-star hotels, while just over a quarter stayed in 3-star hotels, making it the second most popular option. In terms of nights spent, tourists spent 9.6 million nights in Malta in 2023, which is 20.0% more than in 2022, 91% of these nights were spent at hotels, with 4-star hotels being the most preferred type.
