The most recent figures from Dataestur indicate that, as of 2023, Spain had a total of 1,996 bathing areas. This includes 1,735 maritime areas and 261 continental areas. Overall, 88.1% of the water quality sampling points in these areas were classified as ‘Excellent’. The highest counts of ‘Excellent’ water quality sampling points were recorded in A Coruña (210) and Pontevedra (192).
