Tourism indicators show that the EU experienced a slight increase in tourist overnight stays in Q2 2024, with foreign visitors making up about half of these stays.

According to Eurostat, in the second quarter of 2024, the EU saw a slight increase in overnight stays in tourist accommodations, totaling 780.1 million, up 0.2% from the same period in 2023. Foreign visitors made up about half of these stays, with Cyprus, Malta, and Croatia having the highest shares of foreign overnight stays. The increase in nights spent by foreign visitors (+3.1%) was more significant than the decrease in domestic stays (-2.5%). Luxembourg, Malta, and Romania saw the largest increases in foreign overnight stays, while the Netherlands, Austria, and Belgium experienced the biggest declines.
