The InvestEU Programme is the EU's flagship initiative to stimulate investment, innovation, and job creation across Europe from 2021 to 2027. Building on the success of the Investment Plan for Europe (2015-2020), which mobilised over EUR 500 billion, InvestEU aims to generate EUR 372 billion in additional investment using an EU budget guarantee of EUR 26.2 billion.
Key components:
- InvestEU Fund: supports investments in four policy areas:
- Sustainable infrastructure: renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean transport, and digital connectivity.
- Research, innovation, and digitisation: cutting-edge research and digital transformation.
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): access to finance for growth and competitiveness.
- Social investment and skills: projects in education, training, social housing, and healthcare.
- InvestEU Advisory Hub: provides technical support to enhance project readiness for investment.
- InvestEU Portal: an EU-wide platform connecting project promoters with investors, showcasing opportunities across Europe.
Benefits:
- Simplified access to finance: consolidates EU financial instruments for easier access.
- Crowding in private investment: reduces investment risk with the EU budget guarantee, attracting private investors.
Alignment with EU priorities: supports initiatives like the European Green Deal, the digital transition, and the recovery plan for Europe, fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.
