The UIC has introduced the TopRail Tourist-Friendly Awards to honour rail operators that enhance tourist experiences through innovative, user-friendly, and sustainable rail services, with submissions open to UIC members until 24 July 2025.

The International Union of Railways (UIC) has launched the TopRail Tourist-Friendly Awards as part of its TopRail (Tourism Opportunities for Railways) initiative. These awards aim to acknowledge and promote the efforts of rail operators who enhance the travel experience for rail tourists by offering user-friendly, innovative, and sustainable services and infrastructure.
Eligibility is limited to UIC member organisations. Each company may submit one entry per category:
- Tourist-friendly rolling stock, service, and on-board experience – Short Distance (journeys up to 2.5 hours)
- Tourist-friendly rolling stock, service, and on-board experience – Long Distance (journeys over 2.5 hours)
- Tourist-friendly railway line
- Tourist-friendly small railway stations
- Tourist-friendly large/main railway station
- Tourist-friendly railway station lounge
- Best rail tourism initiative or product
