The European Union Agency for Railways has launched a survey to support the revision of technical provisions concerning the interface between trains and platforms in the Technical Specifications for Interoperability for Persons with Disabilities and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM TSI). The aim is to enhance independent accessibility through a standardised, gradual implementation of level access.

The survey explores the boarding and alighting experience on two levels:

  • First, it addresses questions related to stepping on and off the train
  • Second, it considers broader factors that influence the boarding and alighting experience, including passenger information systems on platforms and trains, tactile walking surface indicators, signage, and other accessibility features

Stakeholders—including associations representing passengers, older individuals, and persons with reduced mobility—are invited to provide input via the Commission’s portal by 11 July 2025.
