The "Tourism regions addressing climate change risks" workshop is scheduled to take place on 8 October 2024, from 14:30 to 15:30 CET in Belgium. This event, organized by the European Commission, aims to demonstrate how regional and local tourism authorities are managing climate change risks and adapting their strategies to enhance tourism resilience. The workshop will start with an introduction by Ms. Ramune Genzbigelyte-Venturi, the acting policy officer for tourism at DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs. This will be followed by a panel discussion with speakers Ms. Camilla Bondareva, Ms. Emmanuelle George, and Mr. André Lopes, who will discuss the adaptation of regional tourism destinations to climate change, showcasing challenges and solutions. The primary goal is to present best practices to support regional and local authorities, as well as Destination Management Organizations, in addressing climate change risks and adapting to its impacts.
