The Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information, part of the French Prime Minister’s office, has introduced the Sustainable Mobility Package (Forfait mobilités durables)—a financial incentive designed to encourage environmentally friendly commuting among employees. This initiative allows employers to provide tax-exempt financial support, up to a specified annual limit, to workers who choose sustainable transport methods such as cycling, carpooling, public transport (excluding employer-funded passes), or personal mobility devices.

Participation in the scheme is voluntary for employers and aims to reduce the environmental impact of employees’ commutes while enhancing their quality of life. The package is available to a wide range of workers, including those on permanent or fixed-term contracts (CDI/CDD), part-time staff, temporary workers, apprentices, and interns, provided they use low-emission transport options.

Although there is no fixed amount or deadline for the support, employers must apply the scheme fairly across all eligible employees, with penalties for non-compliance.
