On 19 February 2025, the European Commission held the inaugural high-level meeting of the Net-Zero Europe Platform in Brussels, officially launching this pivotal initiative. Comprising representatives from EU Member States and the Commission, the platform is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA), which came into force in June 2024. The NZIA aims to accelerate the industrial deployment of net-zero technologies essential for achieving the EU’s climate goals.

During the meeting, four specialised sub-groups were established, each focusing on critical areas: strategic projects and financing, access to markets, permitting and net-zero acceleration valleys, and net-zero academies. These sub-groups are set to play a crucial role in driving the successful implementation of the NZIA and advancing the EU’s net-zero objectives. High-level platform members, Commission officials, and Parliament representatives discussed implementation priorities and reported on progress in setting up a supporting framework at the national level. The launch of the Net-Zero Europe Platform marks a significant step forward in the EU's commitment to achieving climate neutrality by fostering collaboration and strategic action across Member States.
