Kemira has progressed their collaboration with IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) towards commercializing the Designed Enzymatic BiomaterialTM (DEB) platform, marking a significant stride in renewable polymer production via enzymatic polymerization. This advancement will catalyze the availability of new renewable materials at an industrial scale, supporting market development and early adopters across various sectors.
Slated for integration within an existing Finnish biorefinery, this facility, managed by Finnamyl Oy / Chemigate Ltd, aims for operational status by late 2024. This venture is a testament to Kemira and IFF's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the delivery of high-performance renewable polymers, emphasizing their potential in pulp, paper, packaging, and water treatment applications. This initiative underscores the synergy between cutting-edge biotechnology and environmental stewardship, providing sustainable solutions without compromising on quality or competitiveness. Kemira is focused on a sustainability-driven transformation aiming for profitable growth, with a goal to generate over €500 million in revenue from its renewable solutions portfolio by the end of 2030.
