"Envisioning Tourism in 2030: Research Report," published in January 2023, is a comprehensive study by the Travel Foundation, in collaboration with the Centre of Expertise in Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality, Breda University of Applied Sciences, the European Tourism Futures Institute, and the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions. The report aims to guide policymakers and the tourism industry in envisioning a thriving, decarbonising tourism sector by 2030 and achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Utilizing the GTTMdyn model, the report explores various decarbonisation pathways and concludes that only one scenario, the Tourism Decarbonisation Scenario (TDS), allows for continued growth in global revenue, trips, and guest nights while meeting net-zero targets.
