The European Capital of Smart Tourism and European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism are EU initiatives focused on promoting tourism innovation, sustainability, attractiveness, economic growth, and job creation in European cities. These initiatives recognize cities for their achievements in smart and sustainable tourism. For the 2024 competition, ten cities have been shortlisted. The finalists for the European Capital of Smart Tourism include Bremerhaven, Cork, Genoa, Helsingborg, and San Sebastian. Meanwhile, the finalists for the European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism are Grevena, Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark, and Valongo. Dublin and Grosseto have emerged as the winners of the 2024 competitions.
