Europe’s rural areas are essential for food production, homes, jobs, and ecosystem services. In response, the European Commission has outlined a long-term vision for rural areas up to 2040, aiming to create stronger, more connected, resilient, and prosperous communities. The strategy includes a Rural Pact and an EU Rural Action Plan, encompassing 30 actions across four key pillars. The Rural Pact fosters cooperation between governments, businesses, and civil society to amplify rural voices, enhance networking, and encourage commitment to these shared goals.
