A study by Mabrian found that Europe could cut CO2 emissions by 1 million tonnes each year by replacing domestic flights under 500km with high-speed trains. This change, affecting over 550 routes and 44 million passengers annually, could reduce emissions by 48%. Spain, Germany, and France have the highest potential for savings. The shift would equate to the emissions of 200,000 cars running for a year, promoting sustainable travel and reducing environmental impact.
