The European Commission put up a proposal for a Green Claims Directive in March, 2023. This proposal seeks to ensure reliable information about the sustainability of products and counter firms' deceptive environmental claims. It attempts to safeguard customers from greenwashing and encourage wise shopping choices by defining precise standards for environmental branding and claims. The idea encourages businesses to support a circular and green EU economy by requiring them to provide solid, verifiable, and science-based evidence for their claims.
