Regulation (EU) 2021/1119, which was released by the European Parliament and of the Council in June 2021, created a framework for achieving climate neutrality within the European Union (EU) by 2050. In the EU, greenhouse gas emissions are regulated by legislation, and this refers to a balance between such emissions and their removal. Together with the legally binding objective of the EU becoming climate neutral by 2050, the bill aims to achieve zero emissions in the EU after that date.
