The European Commission issued the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2486 on June 27, 2023, to supplement Regulation (EU) 2020/852. This regulation, applicable across the European Union, establishes technical screening criteria to determine when an economic activity significantly contributes to the sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources, the transition to a circular economy, pollution prevention and control, and the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems. By incorporating these criteria, the regulation aims to ensure that such activities do not cause significant harm to other environmental objectives.
