The European Commission provided Commission Decision (EU) 2017/175 in January 2017. The purpose of this resolution is to create EU Ecolabel standards for lodging that encourage the use of renewable energy sources, water and energy conservation, waste minimisation, and environmental improvement in the area. It achieves efficiency and synergies by combining services related to campgrounds and tourist accommodations into a single product group called "tourist accommodation." Once announced, the criteria has remained in effect for five years.
