This regulation, published in 2011, stablishes a common framework for the systematic development, production, and dissemination of European statistics on tourism. It aims to provide accurate and harmonized data on tourism within the European Union (EU). Member States are required to collect, compile, process, and transmit statistics related to tourism supply and demand. The regulation emphasizes the need for monthly data to measure seasonal influences on tourist accommodation capacity which helps authorities and operators develop strategies for improving holiday and tourism activity distribution throughout the year.
