The European Commission completed the Fit for 55 legislative package on October 9, 2023, setting legally binding climate goals with the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and updated Renewable Energy Directive, reinforcing its commitment to global climate leadership.

The European Commission’s press release highlights the ‘Fit for 55’ legislative package, a bold initiative designed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. This package sets revised targets for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and introduces the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism to ensure fair competition.
