The European Union has introduced the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) to strengthen environmental and human rights protections across global value chains. It applies to large EU and non-EU companies operating in the EU market, requiring them to identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse impacts linked to their operations, subsidiaries, and supply chains.
The directive also introduces obligations related to climate change mitigation and corporate governance, encouraging directors to embed sustainability into business strategies and risk management. The legislation supports fair, responsible, and sustainable business conduct in alignment with EU values and international standards.
