This research brief introduces an innovative methodology that leverages online big data and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to reveal transferable skills trends in emerging economies. By analysing job vacancies and applicants' profiles across a variety of sectors and countries, the approach focuses on skills that can be applied across different occupations, rather than those specific to a single job.

Tested in countries including Uruguay, Brazil, Russia, and South Africa, it uncovers emerging trends such as digital and green skills. The methodology offers valuable insights into the dynamics of skills demand, supply, and mismatches, enabling a more nuanced understanding of labour markets and supporting more effective, targeted policy interventions globally.
