EIT Manufacturing leverages a unique public-private partnership approach that foresees both EU funding and private partners’ contributions. Within this model, the public sector ensures that all activities and initiatives are aligned with EU strategic goals and policies, while the private sector – including companies, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), research institutions, and startups – promotes innovation and practical applications. This approach aims to support a dynamic ecosystem capable of addressing current and future societal challenges, driving advancements in manufacturing processes, products, and services, supporting innovators, ventures, and startups, and promoting entrepreneurial and innovation education programmes for skill development.

Its strong pan-European extension leverages six regional offices and 13 Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) hubs. The regional offices, based in Paris-Saclay (HQ) - France, Darmstadt - Germany, Vienna - Austria, Gothenburg - Sweden, Milan - Italy, Athens - Greece, and San Sebastian - Spain, act as connectors between European regions with high levels of advanced technology and manufacturing activity. The 13 RIS hubs aim to foster a collaborative approach and knowledge transfer between regions and stakeholders, supporting the enhancement of local ecosystems in countries with moderate-to-medium innovation capacity as defined by the European Innovation Scoreboard.
